General
Information about Fostering a BRBR Rescue Basset: - BRBR is the owner of
the basset hound and is responsible for the well-being and costs of any medical
care required. BRBR personnel will determine the medical care required.
- BRBR
will assist and advise the foster person/family with issues, or questions, as
to the care and well-being of the fostered basset hound.
- BRBR will take
custody if the basset of the foster person/family can not, or does not, perform
the duties of the foster person/family described below.
A foster person/family
is described as a person/persons taking care of a rescue basset hound for an indefinite
period of time, until the basset can be adopted through the rescue branches. Care
being food, water, shelter, socialization, house training, and medical care. To
become a foster for BRBR, you must agree to the following stipulations and be
willing to abide by them. - You agree to stay in contact with the BRBR
at all times while caring for the basset hound in your care.
- You agree
to provide medical care for the basset hound, but before obtaining the medical
care, you must get permission from the BRBR personnel to do so. You agree that
no medical procedures of any nature will be done on the dog until this permission
is given. If you do take it upon yourself to get medical treatment for this dog,
you agree to also pay any costs incurred.
- You understand remedial house
training may be required due to the change in location and caregiver. You agree
to provide remedial house training for this basset hound while under your care.
- You
agree to provide indoor shelter for this basset while under your care. This means
the basset is part of the family and stays in the house except for potty duties
and walks/exercise.
- You agree that you have a fenced in yard or that the
dog will be on leash anytime that it is outside. At no time will the dog be allowed
to run free off leash, even if the dog is under your supervision.
- You
agree that you are a foster person/family only. You cannot make decisions on adopting
this basset to anyone unless you decide to adopt yourself. If you decide that
you wish to adopt this basset, you must contact the branch personnel within your
rescue area for permission to do so. If you do not wish to adopt this basset,
you cannot adopt it to other individuals, but must refer them to the branch office
so that the branch personnel can screen them.
- You cannot represent yourself
as BRBR personnel, or personnel who can make decisions on this dog, or any other
dog at shelters, Humane Societies, etc.
- You agree that any concerns you
have regarding this basset will be directed to the BRBR branch personnel so that
a decision can be made regarding the dog's welfare. The concerns include; biting,
snapping, odd behavior, socialization problems, medical decisions, house training
problems, and any other concerns you might have regarding this basset hound.
- The
basset hound you are fostering must always come back to the BRBR if you feel you
cannot continue to foster.
- You agree that food will be your responsibility,
and will not be reimbursed to you by BRBR.
