Apollo

Apollo is a comical guy. He's very playful and friendly with people, children and all other dogs he meets and isn't bothered by or interested in cats. Actually is great with small children if they don't insist on him playing for hours at a time. Although active, he also likes plenty of sleep, as do most adult Bassets. Likes to stay near his people unless he gets sleepy and retires to the bedroom for a daytime nap or to go to bed for the night. His worst fault is he hates for anyone to pull on his collar and he will get quite snippy if this happens. He has no problem when a lead or leash is used though. He is an infrequent barker mostly saving his voice for playing with other dogs and also for alerting if deer are in the pasture or a strange car arrives. Apollo is housebroken as long as he is taken outside often enough, but seldom asks to go out so you must pay attention to signs. Knows how to use a doggy door and will always go outside to potty if one is available. He rides well, but prefers the front seat or someone's lap. Apollo is estimated to be two to three years old by the vet, but he acts younger. He is on heartworm prevention. For his safety, a secure fence is a must as he loves to visit around the neighborhood if he makes his own opportunity by pushing under a fence if he finds a low place in the ground. He accepts baths with little to no squabble, but is not at all thrilled with having his nails clipped. To see him smile rub his tummy or his ears. He craves attention. Wouldn't you love to bring this handsome fellow into your life and give him the wonderful forever home he deserves?
